College Admissions Uchicago

University of Chicago known for the reputation of the competition
I especially intimidated – the University of Chicago. Play all kinds of rumors that he is a hotbed of academic pressure and competition for students.
I want to go, but I will not make a mistake if I am accepted and then discover it is too competitive. I have until January 02 to apply. I will leave you for listening. – UC
Dear UC – Barely a year goes by that I do not understand this type of question about University of Chicago. For some reason, he acquired a reputation for fierce competition. There seems to be a common understanding among peoples. I decided ask your question to a former client, now a freshman on the CPU.
Yes, she said, it's very competitive.
But "the idea misconception that many people in the UC, this reality is the place where "fun comes to die" or "where your Cumulative GPA just died. "Actually, there are plenty of fun to be had in the UC, and while you manage your time, most classes are manageable."
admission data for 2008 indicated that UC admitted 28 percent of applicants. Average SAT scores are more than 700 in critical reading and math. ACT Composite 28-33 were in the 25th to 75th. Clearly, students at this level is not reached by fainting in the face of competition.
This student also said she likes most of his classes, and teachers are excellent. And she loves her classmates more. There were many positive things to say, and nothing really bad – not very bad experience. Here's how it described to be a first year.
"Now, I really did not classify the UC students to be super competitive. I refer, of course they are all animated, but I do not think that everything is to be number one in the class. I think most students want to learn and go with the best result possible.
"This is what I have seen in my few months of being there and interacting with people. I like the people in the UC. You can have a conversation intellectual everywhere, but they are not arrogant about their intellectual capacities. … I will not say it is not difficult, but the environment and the people here is an ideal place to study while having fun. "
He also noted that students who take Advanced Placement classes should consider the CPU accepts credit and what is not. That is good advice for other schools, too.
He suggested that students visit the campus, stay overnight and attend classes to learn how the system works there.
Another tip is, candidates must achieve UC operates on a trimester system. Time passes so that students must be "on top of their game. "If you fall behind in reading or other rights, there is very little time to catch up.
Moreover, says the UC Small classes.
"You are expected to know what to read and participate (and teachers will know whether or not to participate)," he said. "Three quarters of my classes are between 20 and 25 people, which is pretty impressive for first grade. "
My appreciation for the surveillance system when I was a student at Berkeley. So if you are stuck with a boring teacher, who had to endure for a few months, compared to an entire semester.
Hope this information – especially coming from a freshman at UC – will help you make a decision. If students have other issues in the CPU, an e-mail and I'll pass. She has graciously monitored.
